The van is only about 85 square feet, so following that recommendation we only need about 5000 BTU/hr to keep the van at a comfortable temperature in cold weather. ![]() For a typical home in a cold climate it’s recommended to have 60 BTU/hr for every square foot of space. This is more than enough to heat up the inside of our van. The heater is capable of about 7000 BTU/hr. Every inch of space is precious in such a small living area. The Webasto Air Top 2000 STC has a very high heat output for such a small package. The heater is also very fuel efficient, 1 gallon of gas = about 16 hours of run time. This model is designed to only siphon gas down to 1/4 tank and then turn off so that you still have gas to drive on. ![]() As long as we have at least 1/4 tank of gas in the tank, we are able to run the heater. The biggest perk of the Webasto heater is that it uses the same fuel as the van.
